What is "Personal SmartShare"？

"Personal SmartShare" is a service that allows your wearable device to connect to mobile network even if you can’t carry your phone in your pocket (e.g. during exercise).

Can I subscribe to "Personal SmartShare"?

"Personal SmartShare" is available to customers with eligible mobile service plans, compatible wearable device and mobile device. For details please click here.

Do I need to subscribe to "Personal SmartShare" service at store?

Not necessarily. You can subscribe to "Personal SmartShare" service when pairing your wearable device at the same time. Please click here for details of the "Personal SmartShare" service subscription. Alternatively, you can visit our stores. Our staff will assist you to subscribe to "Personal SmartShare" service and pairing.

Is it required to insert a SIM card to my wearable device?

No. Wearable device supports eSIM (embedded SIM). eSIM will be downloaded and activated automatically in your wearable device after successful subscription.

Is there any charge when using "Personal SmartShare"?

"Personal SmartShare" is charged HK$18 per month for SmarTone customer with an eligible mobile service plan and a compatible mobile device. The voice minutes and data usage incurred by this service on your wearable device will be deducted from your mobile service plan.

Can I switch to use another wearable device anytime?

Yes. Once you switch to use another paired wearable device with your smartphone, "Personal SmartShare" service on your previous paired wearable device will be suspended immediately.

Can I make international calls using wearable devices?

Yes. If you have already registered for 001 IDD or 1638 IDD service, you can make international calls using 001 IDD or 1638 IDD service on your wearable device.

Can I make or receive call, or connect to Internet via my wearable device while overseas?

You can use SmartShare Roaming Service to make calls, send texts, stream music, and get notifications of your mobile apps even when you are in overseas. For details please click here.

Can I check my messages in my voicemail via my wearable device?

Yes. You can call “138” as usual via your wearable device to check the messages in your voicemail.

If I have two wearable devices, do I need to subscribe "Personal SmartShare" service for each device?

Each mobile number is only allowed to subscribe one "Personal SmartShare" service and only one paired wearable device is enabled with "Personal SmartShare". When you switch to use another wearable device, "Personal SmartShare" service on your previously paired device will be suspended.

Do I have to re-register for "Personal SmartShare" service if I change to use another supported smartphone?

No. If you change to use another supported smartphone with the same mobile number, you just need to pair your new smartphone with your wearable device to use the "Personal SmartShare" service.

How do I know if my Apple Watch is connected to the cellular network?

When your iPhone is not nearby or when Bluetooth is turned off, the Apple Watch will connect to cellular network automatically. If you see a green dot icon at the top left corner on your Watch control panel, it indicates that the Apple Watch is connected to cellular network successfully.

I have successfully registered for "Personal SmartShare" but my Apple Watch still cannot connect to mobile network, what should I do?

First of all, turn off the Bluetooth on iPhone & WiFi on the Apple Watch, and then restart the Apple Watch to enable connectivity. If the connection still fails, verify if your eSIM is installed in your Apple Watch with below steps: Go to the Watch ‘Settings > General > About’, if the field “ICCID” shows blank, this means the eSIM has been removed from your Apple Watch.

To re-install eSIM, go to “Watch” app in your iPhone, and go to “My Watch”, select “Mobile data” and tap “Setup mobile data”. Then, tap “Install eSIM” and login with your SmarTone account, eSIM will be downloaded and installed to your Apple Watch. Afterwards, your Apple Watch should connect to mobile network. Remarks

The voice minutes, data usage^ and SMS usage incurred by this service will be deducted from your mobile service plan and charged at the applicable fee thereafter. Alternatively, it will be charged based on standard data charges.

Other services included: voicemail and caller number display.

Data speed of this service is at up to LTE speed. For a Customer who has subscribed a designated mobile service plan with specified data usage, data services for this service shall follow below arrangements of the designated mobile service plan. When the monthly local data allowance of the designated mobile service plan has been fully consumed and the data service is suspended, the data services under this service will also be suspended until next bill month and will only be resumed once the Customer purchases data top-up options. When monthly local data usage reaches the specified data usage under the designated mobile service plan, local data service of the designated mobile service plan and this service continues but data speed will be at up to the designated data speed under the designated mobile service plan, data service experience may be affected.

# A 12-month contract is required. A rebate of $28 per month will be given in first 3 bill months within contract period. At the end of the rebate period, the prevailing comparable service will be charged if the customer continues to use the service.

Personal SmartShare:

This service can only be used with a compatible smartphone, wearable devices and an eligible mobile service plan.(not applicable to Prepaid)
Outgoing calls to non-Hong Kong phone numbers will incur applicable IDD charges.
Subject to relevant terms and conditions. Please refer to T&C-V121 for details.

Family SmartShare:

This service can only be used with a compatible smartphone, wearable devices and an eligible mobile service plan. (not applicable to Prepaid)。
Each designated mobile service plan (Main SIM Card and/or Add-on SIM Card) can subscribe a maximum of 5 services in total.
(If applicable) Customer can enjoy monthly fee rebate for the first 3-month (HK$28 per month) upon 12-month contract subscription of Family SmartShare Service.
Customer shall not be entitled to the rebate amount or any balance thereof if change to other service/ cancel this service; The rebate amount cannot be exchanged for cash.
Monthly fee rebate offer cannot be used in conjunction with other offers.
Call duration is rounded up to full charge units for computation purposes. Each full charge unit is based on a per minute airtime charge.
IDD & Roaming is not available for your wearable devices even though your mobile plan may support IDD and roaming.
If the registered mobile number under the designated mobile service plan is terminated/disconnected or changes to other non-specified plan for whatever reason, the Service will be terminated at the same time.
Compatible smartphone and wearable devices are required for the Service. This service can be used on smartphones and wearable devices running designated software versions of compatible mobile operating systems of iOS. The available smartphones and wearable devices running designated software versions of compatible mobile operating systems will be updated and amended from time to time. Please ask the Company’s store assistants or visit the Company website for details.
