Content Transfer Guide

With just a few steps, you can transfer your content to a new iPhone from your current iPhone or Android phone via the suggested tools below.

Current iPhone to a new iPhone

You can use either iCloud or iTunes to transfer content from your current iPhone to a new iPhone, simply backup and then restore.

With iCloud, you can do it wirelessly when you have WiFi Connection. With iTunes, please connect your iPhone to your personal computer for backup

Both your current iPhone and new iPhone require iOS 5.0 or above (please note that the new iPhone needs to be running on either the same iOS version as the current iPhone, or an even more recent version). You also need an iCloud account.

Please follow the steps below :

i. Backup your current iPhone (please make sure iCloud storage has enough space for backup, it is recommended that your iPhone connects to power and Wi-Fi).

1. Go to "Settings"> "iCloud"> select the content that you want to back up > tap "Backup"

2. Turn on "iCloud Backup" and tap "Back Up Now" (it will take some time)

iia. If you have already set up your new iPhone, you need to reset your iPhone and go through iOS Setup Assistant again, please follow the steps below :

1. Go to "Settings", tap "General"

2. Tap "Reset"

3. Tap "Erase All Content and Settings"

4. Tap "Erase iPhone"

iib. If you haven’t set up your new iPhone, you can simply follow the iOS Setup Assistant to set the language and country, location services and Wi-Fi connection.

iii. After you have gone through the iOS Setup Assistant, "Set Up iPhone" will appear on your iPhone’s screen. Please follow the steps below:

1. Choose “Restore” from iCloud Backup

2. Enter your Apple ID and Password then tap "Next"

3. Choose the appropriate backup

iv. When restore is completed, the new iPhone will restart. Contacts, calendars, photos, videos and music on the current iPhone will be available on your new iPhone. If your contacts or calendars are stored in other email accounts such as Gmail, please add the account and sync on the new iPhone.

You are required to install the latest version of iTunes on your computer and the latest version of iOS on your current iPhone.

Please follow the steps below:

i. Connect your current iPhone and personal computer with the iPhone cable.

1. Tap "Trust"

2a. Open iTunes on your computer, press "Alt" on the keyboard > click "File"> "Devices"> "Back up" (The backup will take some time)

2b. Open iTunes on your computer > click "File"> "Devices"> "Back up" (The backup will take some time)

iia. If you have already set up your new iPhone, you need to reset your iPhone and go through iOS Setup Assistant again, please follow the steps below:

1. Go to "Settings", tap "General"

2. Tap "Reset"

3. Tap "Erase All Content and Settings"

4. Tap "Erase iPhone"

iib. If you haven’t set up your new iPhone, you can simply follow the iOS Setup Assistant to set the language and country, location services and Wi-Fi connection.

iii. After you have gone through the iOS Setup Assistant, "Set Up iPhone" will appear on your iPhone’s screen. Please follow the steps below:

1. Choose "Restore from iTunes Backup"

2. Connect your new iPhone to iTunes via your computer

3. Select "Restore from Backup" and choose the appropriate backup, then tap "Continue"

iv. When restore is completed, the new iPhone will restart. Contacts, calendars and photos on the current iPhone, except videos and music, will be available on your new iPhone. If you need to transfer videos and music, please sync your iPhone using iTunes again after the restore process. If your contacts or calendars are stored in other email accounts such as Gmail, please add the account and sync on the new iPhone.

Transferring WhatsApp chat history

It is advised in WhatsApp official website that the chat history can be transferred from one iPhone to another iPhone by making a backup using iCloud or iTunes. For details, please click here.

Android phone to iPhone

You can use the "Copy My Data" content transfer app, which is advised by Apple, to transfer content from an Android phone to your new iPhone.

Please follow the steps below:

Visit Play Store on your Android phone, search “Copy My Data", then download and install the app.

Visit App Store in your iPhone after activation, search “Copy My Data", then download and install the app.

Go to "Settings" and turn on the Wi-Fi on your Android phone and iPhone, then connect to the same Wi-Fi.

Follow the steps below in "Copy My Data" app:

1. Open the app and tap "Next" to continue

2. Choose "To or From Another Device Over WiFi"

3. Select your new device from the list

4. Choose "Copy data to selected device"

5. PIN display on screen

6. Enter the PIN (displayed on the Android phone) and tap "Next"

7. Select the content you want to copy and tap "Next"

8a. Tap "Finish"
